HRH QUEEN E DONS THE “TUDONG”

It's not quite the sort of typically English headscarf we're used to seeing her in.

But then, the Queen wasn't anywhere typically English.

She wore the flowing head covering as a mark of respect as she visited a 15th century mosque on her state visit to Turkey.

The exotic scarf replaced the wide-brimmed hat she had been wearing to protect her from the hot sun, while her shoes were removed in favour of slipper-type socks.

She then made her way into the Green Mosque – so called because of the colour of its tiles – in the northwestern city of Bursa.
