It is set to make history as the first-ever night race in F1 history and also the
NUMBER OF LAPS : 61
CIRCUIT LENGTH : 5.067KM
The Land Transport Authority, one of the key agencies involved in preparations for the 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix , is in the final phase of road works to complete the necessary race track infrastructural works.
To meet FiA strict requirement on surface finishing, the entire width of the track, which ranges between 9 and 15m wide, is required to be resurfaced at the same time. This is unlike the normal road resurfacing work where only one lane needs to be closed at a time. At certain stretches of the street circuit, a full road closure may be required during the works to achieve this.
A stronger road asphalt surface which uses a Polymer Modified Binder (PMB) that is able to withstand the high shear forces exerted by the race cars during the F1 race will be used for the resurfacing works.
What interesting with this race is, the race direction will be ran anti-clockwise. there will be 24 turns, of which 14 is left. maximum speed along the straights is expected to hit ++300km/h.
this is history in the making.....try not to miss it......cheers
